The Wine Cave at LeMacassar.

A visit to Le Macassar is not complete without a tour of our ancient wine cave!
The cave on our property was forgotten about for over half a century. Filled with debris, it has recently been restored and is perfect for small gatherings, wine, and whiskey tastings.

It is estimated to have been created by the inhabitants of Corbie over a 1000 years ago. Persistent, brutal Viking raids in Northern France in the period between 800 – 900 A.D. resulted in the construction of secrete underground tunnels. Our wine cave was part of this hidden network of passageways that lead from the Corbie Abbey safely out of the city. Come discover the ancient stories of this region.
